Hey... help me out here..
I want to get another box specifically and ONLY for unix.
gonna teach myself.
So, what should said box be equipped with, what should the minimum (or optimal) sys requirements be to get the good and not shitty experience out of this lil adventure here?
Don't ask why.
It just popped into my head the other day that I want to know unix.
it will take forever for me to learn, but, hey, at least I'm trying.
And for those of you who feel the need to mock me for my VERY VERY TINY geek side, you can fuck right off, dammit.

So yeah.. help?

Any PC will do, really. Having at least a Pentium-90, 32mb ram, and 1gig of harddisk space would be nice.

It is possible to re-partition your windows machine (without needing to reinstall) if you wanted to go that route as well.

As for the Unix, what are you considering? I would suggest Debian Gnu/Linux, though Mandrake Linux or FreeBSD are also good alternatives. I run Slackware, but I'd only suggest it if you're up for abuse.

Yeah, I'd say a p90's sufficient. At least 32megs would be good, makes running XWindows a lil' easier to stand.

If you want a Linux shell somewhere to play with to help get you started on the learning before you have dive right in on your own box, just gimme a yell. *nods* Got a few.
