You know, its odd.

But Ellison said in the electronic age, little privacy is left anyway.

Even the phrasing... so just kill it anyway?

"Grandma's got a cold, it might kill her, so lets just off 'er righ' now."

Fuck that.

In the TV interview with anchorman Hank Plante, Ellison said shoppers have to disclose more information at malls to buy a watch than they do to get on an airplane.

While that sounds all good and pretty on television... its simply untrue.

When I got on the airplane I had to show a piece of state issued identification.

When I bought a watch I had to hand the woman a $50 bill.

... I pay in cash. I prefer it that way. I don't wish to add to the waves of demographic information... any of it.

... and it's my RIGHT.

Now they want a digitized thumbprint? Fuck that. I've wanted to obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit here in Washington. So that I could then obtain a Federal Firearms License. This was because I had sources for cheap hardware, and a market of people who would pay more than I was paying. I could make money. It was all legit. These were 'normal people' not thugs or anything.

But I didn't do it. I didn't do it because of the fact that I would be required to be finger printed. I've avoided that my entire life. I like that.

Now... just for being... I have to give them a form of identification that can never be shed. (At least not in any practical or practicable manner.)

Fuck that shit... I'd rather move to Mexico.

Note that this is not anybody official; despite having too much money, Larry Ellison is a private citizen, and as such he has the right to have as many loony opinions as you or me. Now, if Dubya starts making noises about this, then it's time to become grumpy, but for now... eh.
