my computer is still jacked up.
the program is gone, though there are still some registry entries I need to get rid of.
But now, all my .jpegs are archive and will not open.

So much for teaching myself photoshop today.
I feel like I'm overusing Chad as a tech source.
Of course, I don't usually fuck my shit up this badly.

Maybe maybe maybe I'll be able to fix this. But , as usual.. the registry scares me.

I will never be a geek

You're such a baby!
XP just takes some tweaking and figuring out to get it runing great. Took me quite a while to, and if you think Linux doesn't have a learning curve either you're so wrong!
Now come smack me on the ass!

I would rather have to figure out and gradually learn a stable, versatile OS than have to figure out and gradually learn an unstable, static OS that isn't flexible in and of itself, but rather has to have programs and plug ins made flexible for its use.

Sure. Window's is for the general user more accesible.
But if you're going to tell me it's better over all, you can kiss my shiny metal ass.

You don't have to be a non-geek to be scared of the registry. It's just... just.. evil. Evil evil evil. hmmm... nah, you don't wanna hear about my troubles messing about with the original hive files on nt 3.1... just take my word for it, even the ultimate geeks feared the registry.

I just have this vision of deleting these entries and then the whole computer giving me the lil 3 beep death knell.

Is that even right? I don't remember.
It's been too long since I've killed a computer...

Nah, it's been a while since they've done anything like that. These days it's just the ol' Blue Screen of Death. You don't even get any creative error messages anymore like that "Shut 'er down, Scotty" one.

If you say so.

This was during the last year of NT 3.1's development. The hive files are these text files that were used to generate the registry, and I was the first person who ever needed to put binary data into them (as opposed to strings or single numbers). It took me a week, and I broke NT's networking functionality for a day or so during the process, and nobody, not even the guy who wrote the program that took these hive files and turned them into the registry database, had a clue about how to do it. I'd go ask people, and they'd blanch and say something like "Hell no, I don't mess with the hives, what do you think I am, some kind of lunatic?" or some such thing.

So you were a pioneer of breaking NT.
