Trying to throw in on a conversation with my mom and my sister.
I get out half a sentence.
Wendy raises her voice... as if threatened by someone else attempting to speak.

Of course.
But that isn't the issue.
My sister rambles off at the mouth... LOUDLY...(she's a very loud person) about political issues she doesn't know anything about and thinks she has all the answers to.
She gets threatened when anyone else has an opinion that might not match up hers point for point.

that sounds very familiar.

meh, i'd just shrugg it off & wait till she is done filling herslef up, then prove to her that she is wrong. watch her face. repeat untill necessary.

Well, yeah, you talking is threatening. God knows, you might say something true or something.

This time it was the "war on terrorism" and its futility.
Her problem was "where it the money for aid coming from?" and I started to say "where is the money for the 10 million a day in heavy artillery we're dropping on them coming from."
And then later my point that the only way to stop these small, nearly stone age countries from turning to drug based religious regimes is to build them up economically over a period of years so they have a base of prosperity that won't turn so easily toward stiffling and violent coups.

And she cut that off too.

And then the corporate culture of america... something I used to be a freak about. I could quote you off the top of my head the current salaries of the top fortune 500 companies and the salaries of their highest paid floor workers in their factories...

That got cut off and I couldn't make my point that it isn't the LITTLE problem she's focusing on that's the issue.. it's the BIG problem of the richest 8% in our country controlling 45% of the wealth.

My sister doesn't really have a political bent. She's just angry about it all.

If it's really 8% and 45%, that's not so much of a problem. When it gets really bad is when the numbers are about 1% and over 50%. (Or, the other good number, the one I like: in 1900, 12% of the American population were employed as personal servants. That's one in eight of everybody, being maids and butlers and gardeners for the rich.)
