The loa whose task it is to open the door to the other loa or spirits called in ritual. The other loa or spirits can not enter if Legba does not open the door. Derived from a great solar and phallic deity of Dahomey, Legba carries the words of the voodooists between the visible and the invisible worlds. He usually presents himself as an elderly black male using a cane, but nonetheless he is the powerful Guardian of the Centerpost and the Opener of the Gates.
Papa Legba's words resound through the crossroads to those spaces where tales take on form and gently swing between the Visible and Invisible Worlds. He represents the power of the ability of the Word to make fertile the World, and he is the keeper of the Gate between the Worlds.

You need a hobby.
How about a PS2?
A yo-yo?
A PS2 on a string?

I was reading a Gibson book. In his first series he concentrates on AIs and Loas and so forth.
Legba is the Loa of pathways.
You could say that if Voodoo had a ruler of the internet... it would be Legba.

And here I thought I was the only one who actually liked Count Zero.

Here we also find the cosmic link between Holly, Gibson and David Byrne...

I *adore* Count Zero.
Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive are all excellent, though of course, he leaves you hanging...

I think the Internet would generate its own Loa.

If it does, I'm not cleaning it up.

Weeeeell that was sort of the plot.

There really weren't Loa, but AI's using the convenient names and guises of Loa. And using this one particular girl as a horse...
picture this... Biosoft.. enough Biosoft in someone's brain to make their brain more matrix than brain... the closest thing possible to carrying around the entirety of our internet in your head.. and it's a two way link.

... yeah ...

read the damned books.

Also you should try to watch last week's episode of Angel. Wesley contacts a loa, which takes control of a giant plastic hamburger to talk to him.

I'm curious, Gates... what sort of books *do* you like?
I've never seen you say that you really enjoyed any of the books I've mentioned (at least, I don't think I have).

I have this feeling we just have wildly divergent tastes... I have a feeling you like fantasy.

He does! bad gates! but he also likes stuff which dan likes (he recommended them too! (of the detective nature)) so I suspend judgement.

Have you read all tommorrows parties? He makes the gaffer tape joke in there, which all hardware geeks (of the any nature - not just IT) think is one of the true jokes of the world.
