Whodathunkit

She packed my bags last night pre-flight
Zero hour nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then
I miss the earth so much I miss my wife
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long long time
Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no no no I'm a rocket man
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did
And all this science I don't understand
It's just my job five days a week
A rocket man, a rocket man

And I think it's gonna be a long long time...

Hey, at least it's not Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins".

I could cope better with that, 'cos it seemed he at least had some clue about how damnably silly it sounded.

Clearly you've never seen any of his poetry. *shudder*

I love this song- although "Mad Hatters & Mona Lisas" is my fav of his work.
Anyway, I hated, repeat, hated when AT&T was using it to sell long distance- especially since the song is about dealing with drug addiction...gah, marketing fucks!

Well, they couldn't have used it had elton not given them the rights.
"Imagine" was a nike commercial because Michael Jackson licensed them the rights.
"Anarchy" was a mountain dew commercial because Johnny Rotten licensed them the rights.
And "Rocket Man" was an at&t commercial because Elton licensed them the rights.

blame the person who licensed it.

Just shows what YOU know.

EVERYONE knows that Elton died in 1979 and was replaced with a android, hence is massive sucking since the begining of the 80s.
Dir!

Heh, I think Barry Taupin has the rights too, it's joint.

Actually I don't listen to Elton John or know much of anything about his discography.

Yeah whatever.
Also as far as the song for AT&T, remember that since like 1993 or something he gives all his song money to AIDS research, so he probably doesn't care who uses it.

I knew it was Bernie too, I'm tired and dicabobulated or something, whatever that word is, I'm sure you know it...blah!

And, y'know, I can't even blame them for licensing it. The music's there to make money, right?

Well, okay, I can blame Michael Jackson. But that's because he's Michael Jackson.
