I'm sad now.

Yes, it was disgusting and gruesome.
But she'd been institutionalized again and again. Her doctors pleaded with her and her husband to NOT HAVE anymore children. She was verifiably *insane* for most of the last 8 years or so.

But she did this knowingly and intentionally. She knew she was doing it and she knew she was wrong. I give you that. But does motive not enter AT ALL? yes.. yes it does. He motive was to kill the children because the voices told her to.

I'm just sort of sickened.

The last shrink she saw who took her off all her anti psychotic meds should be held liable in some way. Her husband should be held liable in some way.

And they JOKINGLY say "she may avoid the death penalty" ... she's in *texas*...
There's no way in hell she'll avoid the death penalty.

There is a seperate law in texas for the death of a child under the age of six?
There is a punishment for killing a child under the age of six that is different from the punishment for killing a child over the age of six? ..... *why*?

I don't think we should be rallying around her... but I don't think she knowingly plotted the murder of her children and she should be *treated* not killed for it.

I'm just... GRR.

I agree with you about the husband. I'm actually surprised more people haven't complained about his role in all of this. If he knew his wife was a psycho, why make her pop a couple more out?

"Make her?"

Supposedly he insisted that they have more children. Who really knows though?

Wow. I did not know that.

"Who knows" is right, though. Was he too in love to see how dangerous she might be, or too callous to care? Too stupid? Too trusting? Too self-absorbed? Some of those are easier to condemn than others.

They were really religious. While there's nothing wrong with that, I think in this case it led to some incredibly stupid behavior. If she was so depressed after her 2nd child, and the husband knew, and her therapist knew, I can't imagine how the husband could justify getting her pregnant yet again, and again. I mean, he's sane and working for NASA, right?

"Her husband should be held liable in some way."

He's lost his children and now his wife. I can't conceive of anything the state could do to him that would be worse. I also don't see the point.

If the certifiably crazy person is being deemed guilty for the deaths, then isn't there responsibility there on the part of the supposedly SANE person who continued to have children with her knowing that she fell into episodes of post pardem psychosis after the birth of *every one* of her children?

When your wife is consistently institutionalized and her psychiatrists urge you to not have anymore children, and you continue to have children... you... as the sane and responsible party here, then I think you are partially culpable.

Heh... get one a' them Lapp women over, one of the ones that does reindeer... sort of prevent any further troubles.

Actually, I do see what you mean, though... I doubt there's any specific thing they could charge the guy with, I don't think there's any law against "Conspiring to Make Your Wife Into a Total Fucking Psycho" or whatever, but... the guy can NOT be quite that stupid. He just can't. I'd say "he should have known better," but I can't believe he didn't know better. He knew, and just chose not to pay attention, and... bleah. Some kind of negligence involved there.

Oh I'm sure they'll never find anything to charge him with and there really isn't any fitting punishment for it.
I don't know what would be suitable.
But jeeze.. to me.. if she's guilty, he's guilty.... I dunno.
