Who: America Online (AOL)
Position: Freelance Writer
Where: Seattle (Telecommute)
What: Do you know and love Seattle? If you are an expert on the local entertainment scene -- and a good writer -- here's a great opportunity for you. AOL Locals Digital City, the Web's leading city guide, seeks candidates to serve as freelance writers for Digital City entertainment guide. Categories include Nightlife, Live Music, Family, Dining, Arts and Culture as well as Sports and Recreation.
How: To be considered, please write descriptions of two venues or events you love in one of the cities listed above. Each of your two descriptions should be a maximum of 150 words. The best descriptions are the ones that speak to all levels of readers, include local flavor and make use of pop culture references, but avoid a hipper-than-thou tone. Please keep in mind that these are descriptions, not reviews. Also send your resume and a brief letter describing why you think you'd be a great match for this assignment. Please proofread your materials carefully and include them all within the body of a single e-mail. Submissions with attachments will not be read. We regret that, due to the volume of responses, every submission will not receive a personal reply.
Contact: Send your materials to write4dc@aol.com

Problem being, I don't know Seattle. I might at some point in time. But I don't know it now.
And I don't have a resume. Because I'm not a writer. And retail experience (the only thing I can *legitimately* put on a resume) is hardly qualification.
I think it's pretty damned funny though that they stress the fact that you need to CAREFULLY proofread. hehehe
