Why didn't I know about this?
And why the hell do people still have this delusion that petitions work?

I'll agree that petitions don't work, but I feel something should be done to stop this from happening. I can see where it would be useful in the "war" on child-porn, but music and videos and such? That seems a little drastic to me.

Anyways, that my 1 cent. I'll state the other 1 cent when it comes to me!

I don't know. I know *I've* used the phrase "...corrupt as Fritz Hollings..." someplace where you could see it.

Anyway, petitions don't work, but letters to Congressmen... THOSE work. Better than money, even... the only reason money works as well as it does, is because not enough people send LETTERS. Send one. Hell, send three-- you've got TWO senators, AND one congresscritter, all of whom are just waiting for you to bitch at them about this piece-of-shit legislation.

Letters or even phone calls. I called my state representative about something once and left a message. A few days later, I got a letter from her (probably written and signed by an aide, but still...) saying that she agreed with me and would do her best to prevent the measure from passing. So few people take the time to contact their representatives that those who do are taken very seriously.
