A brief history
What I am posting below is my attempt at a history of who stole the land of the state of Israel from who all the way back to biblical times. I'd appreciate any corrections to it. I'd also like to suggest that during all Israel vs. Palestine debates, someone pounce on a person who suggests that one party deserves the land more "because it was stolen from them" by posting what is below.
In 1948, the Israelis, thanks to the British, who had taken it from the Ottomans in 1917, officially stole it from the Palestinians, who settled there at the behest of the Ottomans in 1517 so they could better fight the Mamluks of Egypt, who had stolen it from the Crusaders in 1244, who were given it by treaty with the Saladin in 1229, who had stolen it from the Crusaders in 1187, who had stolen it from the Seljuks in 1099, who had stolen it from the Fatimids in 1071, who had stolen it from the Abbasids in 969, who had several dynasties earlier stolen it from the Byzantines in 638, who had stolen it from the Persians in 628, who had stolen it from the Byzantines in 614, who had been given it by the Romans when the Empire split, who had stolen it from the Israelites in 63 BC, who had stolen it from the Syrians in 167 BC, who had stolen it from the Ptolemies in 198 BC, who had been given it by Alexander the Great, who had stolen it from the Persians in 332 BC, who had stolen it from the Assyrians in 597 BC, who had stolen it from the Israelites in 722 BC, who had stolen it from the Philistines (the ancestral Palestinians) sometime around 1000 BC, who had stolen it from the Israelites before that, who under Joshua and Moses had stolen it from the Caananites, who took over the empty land that they found when the Israelites were all enslaved, who had peacefully coexisted there with everyone else in the time of the patriarchs.
No one stole anything from anyone. The ancestors of the Palestinians and modern-day semitic Israelis were both living there in the Book of Genesis (which I appeal to since I don't really know of a better historical source for the era of the patriarchs). Both groups have claim.
