Hey Goth Girls!
Stop emulating Bettie Page.

She wasn't attractive in the era she's most emulated for.
(this wasn't a pic from her most emulated era)
She was a nudie pic star.
End. Of. Story.

and for godssake quit cutting your damned bangs like that.

(the plucking out the eyebrows and drawing them back in thing isn't too cute either)

UPDATE: Oh my aching humor! just after I post this I go to a community posting where a chick replied using a rapbidly cycling bettie page icon. Epileptic seizures *and* overrated pr0n pinups!

I used to work at a comic book store (I am actually working there again now but that is unnecessary information for the purposes of the story I am going to relate to you) and I had a co-worker who was a goth girl who looked, yes, like Bettie Page.

The only place where the Bettie Page lookalike is more desired than, oh, a 1989 Sisters of Mercy concert is at a comic book store where the extent of the fucking fantasies is a girl who looks like something that is on a calendar. My friend, the Bettie Page lookalike, received phone numbers from customers a minimum of eight per shift. It was really pathetic.

I never saw the big deal myself; I know girls who make bangs work for them but they're rarely as attractive as they'd be without. But you put it in front of the right crowd and they'll make drooling idiots of themselves (it is probably worth noting that they are already drooling idiots, most likely) and that, I am certain, is why the style is so emulated.
