Musicy stuff

Now that I know a liiiiiiiiiittle bit more about electronic music (in that I just have a better idea of what I do and don't dig), I kind of want other people's opinions too.
Right now I'm listening to this thing I've had forever.. it's a compilation by Adam X , a sort of ... 'song journey of his day' sort of thing (that I'm listening to all out of order and probably destroying the point) .. but at the moment there is this goofy "synth-voice" song...and uh ... I'm ... kind of annoyed by it.
I'm going to do a lil track listing. If you have an opinion on the musician, the song, or uh ... what have you... (yes, I'll even accept you close minded "anything that isn't RAAAAAAAAWK suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuks" people and your scathing commentary. Hehe) feel free to comment, por favor.

A Split Second - Muscle Machine
Adam X - Long Drive Home
Beroshima - Domo Arrigato Mr. Roboto
Chaz Vincent - Dream Wave
Chris McCormack - The Maximalist
Cristian Vogel - Shoe Renounce Soul
DHS - House of God DHS RMX
Directional Force - One Thousand
Frankie Bones - It's Good for America
Front242 - Controvery Between
G-Man - Turtle
Galactica - Red Eyes Red Lights
Genie - Night at the Opera
Icarus - Nightfly
Kevin Saunderson - Powerbass
Keynotes - Let's Dance
Malaria! vs Chicks on Speed - Kaltes Klares
Reade Truth - Explosive Force
Russ Gabriel's Audio Specutrum
The Mover - Frontal Sickness
Vex - Vex

Most of these I really don't like... there are a few I need to listen to a few more times to decide.. but the vast majority of this strikes me as bad dance musicy stuff.
Like... it all belongs on the same "This is Techno!" not sold in stores compilation.

I took a sample of the songs through Amazon. It seems like a lot of raw techno/hard house kind of stuff, but then he throws in 2 old-school-industrial tracks (Font 242 and Split Second) for reasons unknown to me. In any event, the raw techno of this album is very repetitive and hard by design. Not really my thing either...I listen to it in small doses, like gabber.

As you can guess, electronica comes in many different flavors. Is there a particular kind that you like?

Hehe.. I'm not *completely* dumb about the topic.
I was keeping the labels nice and vague because I don't tend to pay too much attention to them... I just like what I like.

Off the top of my head, things I've enjoyed are.. well.. really far ranging, I think.
Uhm.. Download goes to the top of the list, Depth Charge, Deep Dish (even though it's house, it's *good* house), Air Liquide, Natacha Atlas, 808 State, Moloko, even some of the Tosca and definitely Johnny L...
It's really really not just one one thing.
I'm going to totally leave out the more industrial things here becuase, well, I *know* I like those.

I tend toward heavier, bassier sounds, dense layers...
The last genre of music I was *really* into was complicated "mathy" hardcore like Candiria and Dillinger Escape Plan. Complex, hard, melodic, nearly jazz-like in its composition.

My tastes tend to be all over the map.
I like drum'n'bass like Dillinja and Usual Suspects; I dig some trance and club that you might hear on the Cream compilations; I love deep house and early acid house.
Lately I've been really getting into lounge and downtempo..stuff like Thievery Corporation and anything from Naked Music.
