"ECSTACY IS BAD, MMMKAY? IT'S WORSE THAN HEROIN! IT'S BAAAAD! DON'T DO IT! WE TOLD YA FIRST!"
pontius pilate on a pogo stick, when the hell are they going to quit that?
First of all, when a drug and a scene is the impetus of a major motion picture by a well known movie studio, the "underground menace" of it is officially dead.
On the other hand, it would be nice if they would get their drug facts straight at ALL when they have these shows. Or if they would ever talk to someone who isn't a parent advocate, didn't get raped at a massive, hasn't taken Ketamine instead of mdma, hasn't been rushed to the emergency room for heat stroke...
Talk to ONE PERSON who uses and has no problems and ask why and how.
They'll all tell you the same thing. They know and trust their supplier. They drink a lot of water. They make sure they don't get over heated. They take care of themselves. They're educated about the side effects and they know how to combat them.
Oh, and they don't tend to roll 4 nights a week, every week for a year so they don't end up with a permanent inability to produce serotonin.

People who are stupid about drugs say stupid things about drugs. Unfortunately, those are the stupid people who end up on stupid shows screaming about brain damage and death. Alcohol, in my opinion, is a more detrimental and insidious threat to people and their health than a drug that was manufactured for the purpose of making people comfy and trusting enough to open up about their problems.

bleh.

And don't even get me started on the popular myths about acid and its use and users.

Hey, man, personal preference is fine. If you don't enjoy drugs, then don't enjoy drugs::shrug::
I honestly have *no* problem with anyone's personal preference. Even up to and including junkies (because I've got wacky libertarian sort of views about drug laws... but that's just me), if that's your choice, that's your choice.

And ya know, I don't really *mind* the anti-drug info and shows that try to show how detrimental a drug can be. I just wish they'd be factual about it. And I wish they wouldn't act like this is a brand new phenomenon that they're exposing you to.
My bitch is more about the way popular media handles these things than it is drugs or drug use itself.
::nods::

heh.. but just to nit pick... do you hate chocolate or.. hmm.. iced tea?
Yes, yes, I know, it's different... just saying... a *lot* of things alter our states of mind.

Or Holly?

You can bet your sweet bippy that she's a mind-altering substance.

Please polish your bippy thoroughly before payment
It was my understanding that bippy slamming wasn't allowed in Holly's journal.

Anyway, how can you deny how your mind is eternally changed after each and every you, in the modern ghetto lingua franca, do H? After consuming some Holly, my heart races, my synapses fire in novel, spectacular ways, and life perceptibly becomes all the more worth living.

Denying the consequences of Holly use is a sure sign of addiction. Seek help immediately.

Re: bippies, betting
I'm the ultimate hate-able substance.

The holocaust, slavery, abortion, pollution, communism, nuclear weapons, war, disease, poverty, discrimination, NAFTA, Carrot Top, The KKK, The religious right, Britney Spears, Dennis Rodman, Noam Chomsky, Dirty hippies and Mary Hart COMBINED can't match me for sheer hate-able-ness.

I think the real question here is, why would you want to?

Re: bippies, betting
then the question again becomes "why?", rather than "why not?".

I'm feeling all flowcharty today, apparently...

Re: bippies, betting
and my answer to "why" was "why not" ... really rather simple, I think.
