I'm thinking of buying a cheap ($70) dvd player. The reviews all stress that this isn't top of the line, that there might be issues from heavy use.. but based on 125 reviews it's still got 4 out of 5 stars.

When I pick up my check tomorrow I'll officially be out of the red on my banking account(there is a quarterly penalty for carrying a balance under $500. I know it seems weird, but I get my checks for free and it's the only bank in the area that hasn't changed hands 5 times in the last 10 years... so I don't mind). From there out everything is savings toward a car. I don't expect to get anything but a clunker because I'm a handy chick who can fix things and they're easy to find around here for $500-$900 or less sometimes. Lots of transitory military people who find it easier to dump vehicles than ship or drive them to their new duty stations.
This is so piddly and small, I suppose. But ya know what? It's a major big big thing to me.
I feel So Very Good about this. After over a year of dead stand still, the feeling of forward movement is enough to make me giddy.

So, in a few weeks, I want to find a dvd player that's cheap but not crap. Or find a sugar daddy who only demands that I talk to him about whatever I feel like talking about in exchange for whatever takes my fancy.
Whichever. ::shrug::

I just picked up an Apex 3201 for $79 last week. It is out of production so you can get it cheap at Kmart if they have any left. I've been pleased with it, and you can turn off macrovision and region codes.

My dad has an Orbitron and it isn't great but it seems to work pretty good and it is around $70, I think.
