you people with your nothing to say are really not helping.

Last night I watched Focus, a movie starring William H. Macy and Laura Dern. It's based on an Arthur Miller book (same title).
It's a really gorgeously shot movie. Very stylized and moody, but without beating you around with it like Finscher does (beats you around in a not-bad way... I mean... yeah ).

But the *content* of the first 20 minutes of the film had me tensed and nearly crying and wanting to, not run from the tv, but go into the tv and scream and scream and scream at the characters.
Well, really the whole movie is like that.

I'm not a talk-back-to-the-screen type of person, but I was yelling at these people last night.
This movie just made me lose all composure and I'm not sure I can even explain why.

I doubt most of you have seen it... so I'm not going to say more.
It was a really excellent movie. Just very emotional and very scary in its way.

it'd be quite nice to see a movie
that didn't beat me around the head.

I've never gotten used to the idea that there are just people in the world who hate other people for reasons as lame as their religion or racial heritage.
So hearing meatloaf say "kike" about 30 times... it was like getting smacked every time. I didn't know that racism was something that was still alive and well in the world until I was 13 or so and saw a documentary about the Aryan Nation. I'd grown up without it even entering into my world view, so I always thought that *everyone* was like that and that idiot racist attitudes were something of the distant past.
It's amazing to me how much America has changed, and how much it has stayed the same in 60 years...

I don't know why my being filled with revulsion would crack you up.. heh.. but so be it.

I'm always finding this strange ways that prove that I'm not as hardened as I thought.
