Last night I watched Focus, a movie starring William H. Macy and Laura Dern. It's based on an Arthur Miller book (same title).
It's a really gorgeously shot movie. Very stylized and moody, but without beating you around with it like Finscher does (beats you around in a not-bad way... I mean... yeah ).
But the *content* of the first 20 minutes of the film had me tensed and nearly crying and wanting to, not run from the tv, but go into the tv and scream and scream and scream at the characters.
Well, really the whole movie is like that.
I'm not a talk-back-to-the-screen type of person, but I was yelling at these people last night.
This movie just made me lose all composure and I'm not sure I can even explain why.
I doubt most of you have seen it... so I'm not going to say more.
It was a really excellent movie. Just very emotional and very scary in its way.
