Yesterday evening I watched L.A. Confidential for the first time.
Yup. I hadn't seen it.
I've never seen The Godfather either. And that one... eh... isn't really on my must see list.
I expected to dislike L.A. Confidential. But I didn't. I liked it. I liked it quite a bit actually. Which is saying a lot considering I'm not really fond of Russell Crowe *or* Kim Basinger and if I really don't like the actors involved, they have to be extra super good to keep my attention. It's not fair and it's not really mature of me. But, well, it's the truth. Which is really one of the main reasons I so greatly dislike The English Patient, which easily lands on the Most Overrated Movies list. Thank you Mr. Ebert.
And is it just me or is it pretty obvious that Ebert and Roeper pick a steady roster of box office hits and then seem to through in the occasional obscure pick to seem more balanced and arty?
or am I just that damned bitter about the way people behave toward movies.
