ERROR FORCES AMAZON TO SHUT BRITISH WEB SITE
Amazon.com was forced to shut its British Web site for 15 minutes yesterday after an error caused it to offer hand-held computers at fire-sale prices. Consumers had jumped on the opportunity to buy an iPaq hand-held computer from Hewlett-Packard for as little as £23 ($35.86). It normally sells for more than £500. Amazon said those customers should not expect delivery unless they pay the difference. Amazon's British site briefly shut down and suggested that customers shop at its American site. (Reuters)

Re: that happened to us
I was suprised that they insisted on the difference being paid. Yes, it's a very large difference. But it's also *amazon* fer chrissakes.
