The question I had was.... are people really that stupid when it comes to picking a game system to purchase?
Given the questions and answers I've heard at work, the conversations with Jeremy about it, and a lot of things I've read online I wondered if they really were totally fucking stupid enough to not realize just how arbitrary their choices were.
The argument about a larger software catalog *is* totally justified if you want a system for instant gratification game play right now. The X-Box and Gamecube are going to take awhile to even get close to catching up to the number of games available for PS2. It had a year headstart and the system is backwards compatible, so you can play PS1 games on it. Since X-Box and Game cube are brand new technologies, they just aren't going to have as many games for awhile.

I've seen people say that the controller is too big for X-box.
You fucking dorks... they have a DIFFERENT CONTROLLER (s-controller) because they realized that the size was an issue. If you buy a bundle pack for the X-Box, the S-Controller is included. You can also buy them seperately if you're having issues with the size.

Also, people don't seem to understand the difference in not just the graphics performance, but the *capabilities* of the different platforms. PS2's hardware just does not measure up to that of the X-Box and the Gamecube. It just *doesn't*... it's not a matter of opinion. It's a fact that there is a large difference in the basic hardware.

I'm sure I've babbled about all this before... but it's just so freaking inane that there are these supposedly 'knowledgeable' gamer people who don't have a clue what they're on about.

If you're looking into buying one of these systems... just look up some basic information. Not opinion pieces... but information. I'm really really pleased with my X Box... but I'm a whore for the really really fantastic looking graphics. If you don't give a shit about that and just want 300 games to choose from right now, then you should be able to make up your mind about what you want.
Just like with a computer system... if you're using it for mainly work applications (depending on what your work is), Office suite sort of things, then graphics and sound cards probably aren't a high priority for you as they'd be a waste.

Just the lack of common sense in this, and in just about every other facet of life heheh, annoys me.

I honestly go back and forth between all three systems. Right now I'm all about my PS2 thanks to Primal and Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven, but I'm still working through Metroid Prime and just started The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on my GC, as well as Panzer Dragoon Orta, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and serveral slightly older titles like Splinter Cell, Jet Set Radio Future, and of course, ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth on my XBOX.

I'm just sayin' it's all good, and you really can't go wrong with any of those systems, and I agree with Holly's statements too, but if you're considering either purchasing a new system or new games for your GC, check all those links out and/or ask me stuff. :)

P.S. The ratings on some of those games are a bit low in my opinion (specifically Primal and TJ&E) but the reviews will still give you a good idea of the gameplay, etc.
