We're both fans of the director (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting), and we'd had a few friends tell us it was good, but I'm pretty sure that we both avoided the hype, the trailers, and any other info about it. Karl told me that it was supposed to be like a zombie movie or something and that made me almost choose to see Wrong Turn or Burnt Offerings first.
Zombie movies freak me the fuck out. Even really shitty ones.
Something about a zombie movie just... hits me like that. Maybe it's connected to my brother acting like a zombie for hours and chasing me in slow motion around the house when I was a kid, leaving me bawling and scared as hell. Or maybe my imagination just takes me a little bit deeper and I think about a moving rotting corpse and that's well... horrible.
Anyway, we decided to watch it and I was so completely impressed. It's not a zombie movie, it's not a horror film, it is a horror film, it's a drama, it's not a drama.. it's great. I love genre crashers.
It scared the fuck out of me AND made me want to cry at the same time.
I'm saying all this mainly because I just read IMDB reviews of the movie and those people are just so... lame brained. I cannot believe some of the things they bitch about. And apparently, according to many reviewers there, I'm not really a fan of the horror genre because I liked this movie. These are people who called Suspiria "stupid" and "pointless" and *I* am not a fan of Horror.
Now I'm all ranty. hehe.
