I finished up the studies I had going on and submitted the reports on Thursday, but knew that I had more starting today so this weekend was a full 'relax only' weekend for both of us.
We pretty much just watched a lot of movies. We've been in a horror kick lately. We saw Audition last week, and a few weeks before we watched Cabin Fever (which is nowhere near as cheesy as it looked and was incredibly solid. There's a *reason* Peter Jackson has given it so much praise.).
Then on Friday we watched Wrong Turn, which, again, was not as cheesy as we thought it would be, and despite the MULTITUDE of people who seemed to think it was a Texas Chainsaw Massacre/The Hills Have Eyes/Deliverance rip off, managed to avoid a lot of horror movie cliches along the way.
Then on saturday we watched Weasels Rip My Flesh and Zombie (known as Zombie usually in America, but its offical title is usually Zombi 2), both of which were awesome for entirely different reasons. Nathan Schiff is an insane guy with a cheap home camera and REALLY bad titles and Lucio Fulci is ... well... he's Lucio Fulci, dammit.
Then yesterday we watched Tombs of the Blind Dead, Baron Blood, and uh ... Caddyshack because I somehow managed to grow up in the 80s without ever having seen it.
A weekend full of giallo flicks. Full enough that all my dreams last night were grainy, wonderfully lit, and should have been subtitled. I am a full on fan now of Italian horror, in or out of keeping with the mainstays of the giallo genre.
Still not sold on the spaghetti westerns though.
