I have never spent so much of a show unselfconciously dancing. I absolutely needed this on so many levels. My only regret is that the merchandise guys stopped sellling shirts and I didn't get a "make my funk the P-funk" shirt.
There are a lot of fucking incredible moments that I just couldn't explain unless you were there. Even the guy asking us to get the bartender for him and order his Zinfandel and his Courvoisier and Diet Coke (I told him twice he made that shit up) just isn't as fucking incredible if you aren't standing there talking to him. The random stories are the best though. While the room chants "shit, gaddamn, get off your ass and jam" a pretty damned young guy in dreads comes up to the bar, orders a a drink, and leaned over to karl and says "I got in trouble for saying that shit in kindergarten," and then shows Karl his P-Funk Tattoo.
I'll make karl write an entry and link it. He's better with this sort of thing, I think.
A few days later, I'm still randomly dancing. Aint no party like a P-Funk party 'cause a P-Funk party don't stop. I'm just glad I got to see Daddy up on stage. It's one of the few times for me where actually *being* there has really mattered the most. Though, there are plenty of shows I never got to see that I would give a lot to be able to get to. So like I said... I just needed this, without knowing exactly that *this* was what I needed.
