Apparently people either completely LOVE everything about Dario Argento (but as usual kind of overstate their case and make it look like they don't know what they're talking about) or completely and utterly revile him to the point of making really really dumb comments about the nature of his work and his level of talent.
Something like Inferno should be taken in a certain context. Sure it's boogedy. But it's not Scream, it's not Audition, and it isn't House on Haunted Hill. All of these movies are considered horror. All of them approach it in very very different ways and I think sometimes people want all things to be equal in the way they talk about and judge them.
I have always loved movies. Lately I've just been *thinking* about them more. And also, actually writing out some of the things Karl and I talk about. It's not all super high brow. While I have every intention of watching Little Otik and Conspirators of Pleasure sometime very soon, that isn't going to stop me from watching the Patlabour movie, the Incredibles (again) and The Wedding Singer (again) in the interim.
I feel all defensive today about what may appear as total film snobbery.
