Karl made me a shirt.
On the front is a rattle snake, poised to strike (though for some reason the graphic has the pinched throat of a cobra and a rattler... so it's a confused snake).
On the back it says "Arch Hall Sr. sez: Watch Out For Snakes!"

By the way... we were watching some of the MST3K box set things the other day and I never followed the series when it was on becuase it kept jumping stations and I never knew when it was on and I've never been one to follow programs. So uh ... I understand the switch from Joel to Mike. Supposedly they were going to do something terrible to someone in a jump suit and Gypsy assumed that meant Joel (instead of Mike the temp) and subsequently got Joel to shoot out of a escape pod and they replaced him with Mike. Okay.

But we watched one the other day with a completely different Crow, no Dr. Forrester or TV's Frank and instead some chick on a flying van and a white faced guy holding a brain. What uh ... what the hell happened? Was that the ass end of the show or something?

The lovely and talented Sars at Tomato Nation recently wrote about the "most awesome kung-fu movie ever": Ten reasons you need to rent The Victim right this very minute.

I figured you and The Karl might be interested. Even if you aren't, Sars's writing about the movie is certainly entertaining.

Ahhh.. anything starring and directed by Sammo Hung is typically a winner. Like Winners and Sinners. Which I now have the music for stuck in my head thanks to Karl signing it over the phone.

It's uh.. not good. And we think it's actually Sammo singing it.

Yeah, things went wonky later on. I wasn't really keeping up with it at that point, but if I recall correctly...

frank went to heaven or something.

Dr. Forrester's mother showed up.

Trace left the show, so original crow/Dr F. went away and the latter was replaced by his mom.

Got all that? :-)

Frank was called to heaven by the angel Torgo. I've seen that episode but fell asleep by the fourth bumper so didn't catch the very end of that episode and thus am not entirely sure of how Pearl was re-introduced.

Frank and Pearl Forrester had a friendship going on (she liked him more than she liked Clayton [Dr. F], as explained in one episode) so I don't know if she moved into Deep 13 to be with Clayton and support him -- unlikely, to my mind, but maybe she changed in characterization -- or just to be where Frank was before he left.

Just like Joel left to do other things, Trace (Dr. F) and Frank (Frank Coniff) left at the end of the Comedy Channel run (after which it moved to SciFi -- they didn't know if the series was even going to be picked up, and so wisely decided to secure work elsewhere), and were replaced by Pearl Forrester (who you can see in about half of the final Comedy Central episodes as Doctor F's mother, but in the SciFi series' she is much younger -- the "it's just a show" justification holds true for the huge changes in continuity as well as for the eating and breathing stuff), Professor Bobo, an ape from the future, and Brain Guy, a superintelligent being who is "without a body" (the brain is himself, supposedly, though clearly they riffed a lot on the fact that he does have a body) and was played in the "Oscar-winning actor forced to work in B-Movies" style for most of the run -- quite well I think.

By the end of the series, no-one (and I mean NO-ONE) that you saw on the series was the same as at the beginning. New voices for Crow and Tom (Tom had a different voice for the first series), new SOL captive, new people controlling from the ground. Everythang new.

But at least they sorta tried to explain it, rather than having one character go upstairs and never come back down again, eh?
