WoW has this thing built in to encourage you to log out. It's called being "rested". You get "rested" from sitting in an inn or from logging out in a major city or inn. Being rested gives a very nice bonus to your experience. I've been grinding the hell out of this one character (took it from 32 to 48 in just a few weeks. About a level a day, which is increasingly difficult the higher you get). So I decided to let it just sit today and get up some rested experience bonus to make this last grind to 50 a little easier.

So I'm playing a character I created months and months ago but becuase of work just never followed through with. It's a priest. Priests can go down the "shadow" path in their talents and basically become hardcore damage dealers. We call it "face melting". Anyway... it's also an "undead". I'm playing the Horde side of things... It's complicated really.. but to make it simple there are two major factions (alliance and horde) and there are 4 races in each faction. The alliance races are night elves, humans, dwarves, and gnomes. These are "the good guys" and all their areas are well lit, leafy, green, and pretty (for the most part). The horde races are orcs, tauren, trolls, and undead. These are the "bad guys" and all their areas are dark, barren, demolished, war-torn and plague-ridden. So I'm playing this undead character. She literally has bones sticking out, part of her face is rotted off, no skin or flesh around her knees and elbows, her spine is exposed, she doesn't have eyes anymore and one of her racial abilities is to be able to eat corpses in order to regain health.

Despite that, when she runs, her tits still bounce. Fucking male developer idiots. SHE'S A WALKING CORPSE that was killed off BY A PLAGUE and then reanimated by the scourge in order to be used IN BATTLE before awakening and realizing that she could have free will. (I swear to god I'm not a role player... that's just the undead story line). And yet, despite the fact that she died of the plague and is a fucking walking corpse, she's still got bouncy, perky, round tits.

It's still better than playing a night elf though. When your character in-game gets more requests to remove your clothes and dance for them than they get requests to group up and finish quests it gets really fucking annoying. Especially when the night elf female dance is literally a stripper dance.

Good to know people are the same in the unreal world as here...

The tauren are literally humanoid cows things. Horns, fur, wide pink noses, etc. They're sort of... native american-y in style. An undead player the other day asked my Tauren (female) character if I "wanted to make love"

I'm so glad I don't get into this stuff...

To be fair, I'm told they can do amazing things with silicone these days.

I kind of like the Tauren starting area, lots of green, rolling plains. It's less severe than the dwarf/gnome area, which has snow, ice, evergreens, more ice, and lots more snow. And snow leopards that think gnomes are tasty.

My main character is a female gnome warlock. Gotta love the disconnect of a cute little kid conjuring up snarling demons and hellfire. :)

That's what originally made me want a Tauren, their starting area and their general cultural thrust. I have had a night elf Druid (up to lvl 58), a gnome mage (lvl 38), and now these two horde characters I'm concentrating on (Tauren Druid lvl 49 and Undead Priest lvl 14).

It's really the players that drove me to the horde side of things. Alliance players on our server are very overpopulated and very much like the scary frat boys in any movie about college life (except animal house where they manage to be psychos yet still sort of likeable). I'm really happy with both my horde characters though I wish all the jokes surrounding tauren weren't cow-related. I mean... for /joke she even says something about "giving milk". beh.

what server are you on? I'm on Warsong and have a lvl 47 human warrior. and a lvl 44 dwarven warrior (don't ask).

the game is crack.

I wanna try Horde eventually...

Gilneas. Had we started the game later, we would have chosen a different server. The population is huge and way out of balance about 3 to 1 Alliance. So the Horde side is much more tight-knit and happier overall. I've just abandonded those alliance characters. Heh, they're pretty much just there to do some shopping for me on the alliance AH becuase the horde population being so low means the economy isn't as booming. Which is good and bad.

I can sell a stack of Vision dust on the alliance side for 50s. I can sell the same stack on the horde side for closer to 2 gold.

Heh, and since I made that post on the 14th by Druid is up to 52 with more than half of the xp to 53. (I've had a month off work) heh.

I've been playing since November but I got hacked and took like a month for them to fix it so I started another warrior. I also went through that restless try different characters phase. I have a 19th level Mage rotting and my dwarven warrior is badass but I'm focusing on getting to 60 with my human (just hit 48) then leveling the Dwarf. I'm gonna set one for PVP and the other pure tank (like al in protection). that's one good thing about warriors that if you distribute your talents you can have practically a different class. I figure that won't make it sucha waste.

I'll probably go paladin after that although they are a min-maxers dream class; well them and shamen.

As far as Warsong it is highly populated and has a very high mulch rate. I think your alliance counterparts play horde on my server as they tend to do all kinds of crap like ganking in Darkshire or raiding refuge point with all 60s. So if you ever wanna do alliance on pvp and not run into that fratboy crap try Warsong.

As far as ecconomy, it seems to me to shift. After Xmas Traveler's backpacks were going fo 10-14g noy they are 4g. So it shifts from supply and demand. Right now mats are out of control on Warsong. Essence of Fire goes for like 7g and radiant shards2-3g a pop so enchants are expensive. Forget about doing a Icy too.

Anyhoo, too bad you're on a different server, my guild is comprised of all people in NYC that know each other and/or work together so we dont' have drama and such. In about a month we will have about 13 60 level characters. I can see after bouncing around and playign with strangers how someone would quit the game.

I'm rambling.

Paladins are also a hated and reviled bullshit class that was "designed to be easy" (according to Blizzard).

Heh, I have a Druid and a Priest that I'm playing at the moment, both Horde. Believe me, I understand that "practically a different class" thing.

You wouldn't want to do an icy anyway. The mats for Firey are less expension, it procs all the time (depending on your weapon speed), and does a LOT more damage than icy. Pretty much firey is the way to go for an enchant unless you're a priest and then you wait for the money for the +int

Me and Karl were just asked by... basically all the people we like and interact with in the guild... to break off and form a new guild. The leader of the current one hasn't been on in like 2 months. The #2 is very not-involved in forward movement and more interested in levelling his alt and a ALOT of them are just PvP freaks who spend all their time in AV waiting for the Phat L3wt rewards. Plus (this is the case with about half the server) there are a alot of Aussie players. So just the time difference makes things odd.

Money stuff definitely fluctuates. But with the horde side the issue is really that it's a very needy group, there isn't a luxury economy. On the alliance side I can buy stacks and stacks of kingsblood for thorium brotherhood reputation. On the horde side I'll be lucky to find one stack and that person will be trying to sell it for 3 to 4 times what it's worth.

In case you didn't know, there's a WorldofWarcraft community here on LJ, though it sometimes devolves into the same fucko trying to be controversial and starting flame-wars... but overall it's been pretty informative.

one thing I hate about all of this is the lack of ability to shift characters from server to server. i had to abandon one because of not knowing people I worked with were on warsong etc.

anyway if you two ever wanna do alliance again pop on warsong we have a badass guild.

me and the gf play together as well its better to play together than getting nagged about playing so much. I have a feeelign because of the rate of popularity etc this games will be out of control in a year or so.

Icy is good for pvp as rogues and hunter love to run about while hacking you. But I agree I've alwasy been a firery man,; I have hamstring for that.

If and when I do horde though perhaps I will on your server...

PS- we have tons of Aussies on our too and they basically always play horde...funny. We also have a ton of brazilians which carla speaking portugese comes in handy with. otherwise they suck as you can't talk with them.

I don't know if you want to hear about the player org in Anarchy Online that exists strictly to be an in-game brothel. They built up enough cash in the first month of operation to buy a player city plot... those go for about as much money as my main, a fairly high-level tradeskiller, would make in three years.
Mar. 14th, 2006 01:51 pm (UTC)

Anarchy Online is *special* though. I was having a conversation with a guildy the other day who claimed that "Everquest started the whole MMO thing". Hehe.. funny what people just don't freaking know.
