that lil' Jimmy Norton is one funny fella

I am sitting in the car recovering from our epic (read:not at all epic) journey into the world of HBO comedy hour filming. As an audience member of course. Jim Norton was wonderful, as expected. I expect exactly none of you to have the faintest fucking clue who I'm talking about and that's okay.

We almost didn't go because I spent the morning barely able to keep my eyes open due to maybe the worst sinus headache ever. But I got my shit together and I'm glad I did.

I saw him on Letterman a while back. Pretty funny guy.

As someone who listens to Opie and Anthony, it was pretty damned cool to be just a few rows behind them in the audience and to actually finally see Jim Norton live. I have all his albums and have been into him since he was a regular on Tough Crown with Colin Quinn. Another thing that was neat was a strong communal feel in the audience. We were in the "fan line" outside (we signed up for tickets through his website after the ones we bought for his Improv gig were cancelled) and everyone was sort of chit chatting back and forth with each other about the other people and the neighborhood and stuff. Because O&A are also going through some bullshit censoring stuff right now it was good to see them there and cheer for them too.

He's pretty foul when not restrained by the FCC so the Letterman set, while still characteristic, was a little watered down by necessity. I'm really eager to see what gets kept in the set and how many times I can hear my own loud crazy laugh. Because I have a loud crazy laugh, man.

I'd wager that 20% of your fans would at least recognize Jim Norton
You underestimate your fanbase. I do indeed have a faint fucking clue about who you're talking about. I haven't seen enough of his standup to have an opinion of him either way, but i'll give him a more legitimate chance next time i see him rather than change the channel after a minute or two.

you and your use of the word "fan".

You should probably just change the channel. It took me a good long while to actually enjoy his humor when he was on Tough Crowd. Because he's kind of repugnant, even if he says something kind of basically funny now and again a lot of his humor is sort of... foul.

It's *definitely* cringe humor. If you see him on TV though it's much much cleaner.

Basically - I can't really recommend him to anyone I know who I haven't already recommended him to.
