Last night we went to happy hour at Clyde's in Ashburn. It's a really nice place in a huge converted barn. I learned that Saleena and I have a lot more in common than I realized (both sang in junior high/high school, both really into cooking). As she put it, we're very Yin Yang. She's a complete extrovert, extremely outgoing, confident, etc. And I'm completely introverted, reserved in public (usually), and I am definitely not a confident person in general. heh.

Anyway - it was fun. I need to learn to have a glass of water for every beer I have. But honestly if I'd managed to sleep through the morning I would have been fine. Having a thimble bladder made that difficult.

According to Saleena gin and tonic is the perfect drink. Her theory is that the British loved Gin, and the Indians used tonic water as a cure all. So by putting the two together it's getting drunk and being restorative at the same time. I have no idea how valid that theory is - but she could have easily gone into sales of uh .. anything. You just feel convinced.

Alicia - you have to make a trip up here and we have to get you and Saleena in the same pub at the same time for Karaoke. If I weren't feeling assy we'd be there tonight.

the problem with karaoke is, it makes me drink. alot. cause I need the liquid courage. did scott ever show you the video? it's...something. something terrifying, and MY GOD was I hung over. commercial jello shots are the devils tools.

and she's right, gin and tonic is lovely, although anyone who admits to that is pretty much an alcoholic. it's just that kind of a drink. no new drinker ever likes g&t, cause gin is kinda for hurting yourself.

I despise gin. Pine needle-y piss. BUT I'd give a vodka tonic a shot. Saleena was drinking Maker's Mark and water. and I was sticking to beer.

Saleena is into Karaoke like... she has choreography. She kind of makes you want to go do it even without the booze. It would be fun to watch anyway :) I'm hitting this point where I realize I'm very very close (less than 2 weeks) to 30 and that I don't go out enough. If the chick with three kids can manage it, why the fuck can't I?

So I'm totally scouring for happy hours, fun shit to do for cheap, reasons to leave the house. I found out that the Arlington Cinema and Draft House has a wine-tasting between 6 and 6:30 on Fridays. It's a $1 wine tasting done by the Washington Wine Institute. Movies are $5.50, then you buy your drinks and dinner. That's still a fucking cheap date. There are places around here that have $1.98 happy hours. I mean.. FUCK dude.
